TAVRUS caliper coatings
11 variants in 4 technologies: anodizing + vacuum metallization, nickel plating, PVD coating and Cerakote.
Coating options
Anodizing + vacuum coating
Anodized Red (anodizing + vacuum coating)
Anodizing forms a dense oxide film of 5–10 microns on the surface, increasing the caliper's wear and corrosion resistance. The film is several times harder than the base material, reliably protecting the metal. Thanks to its microporous structure, the film delivers a natural metallic color produced by chemical reaction. A vacuum-coating protective layer is applied over the anodizing, shielding it from sun fading and aggressive fluids. The color stays vivid, withstands high-pressure washing and keeps its original shade for a long time.
Anodized Racing Gray (anodizing + vacuum coating)
Anodizing forms a dense oxide film of 5–10 microns on the surface, increasing the caliper's wear and corrosion resistance. The film is several times harder than the base material, reliably protecting the metal. Thanks to its microporous structure, the film delivers a natural metallic color produced by chemical reaction. A vacuum-coating protective layer is applied over the anodizing, shielding it from sun fading and aggressive fluids. The color stays vivid, withstands high-pressure washing and keeps its original shade for a long time.
Vacuum Coating Blue (vacuum coating + anodizing)
Anodizing forms a dense oxide film of 5–10 microns on the surface, increasing the caliper's wear and corrosion resistance. The film is several times harder than the base material, reliably protecting the metal. Thanks to its microporous structure, the film delivers a natural metallic color produced by chemical reaction. A vacuum-coating protective layer is applied over the anodizing, shielding it from sun fading and aggressive fluids. The color stays vivid, withstands high-pressure washing and keeps its original shade for a long time.
Bronze Bell (anodized disc bell)
Anodizing technology used in high-load and high-temperature applications. A dense, wear-resistant oxide film with high corrosion resistance is formed on the surface. Low thermal conductivity (approx. 67 W/(m·K)); withstands over 2000 V; melting point 2059 °C — an excellent heat-resistant material.
Nickel plating
Nickel Plating
A dense 0.01 mm nickel layer is deposited on the part by galvanic plating (cathode deposition) with excellent anti-corrosion properties. The layer has high gloss and a genuine nickel-metal texture, outstanding durability and oxidation resistance. It does not peel, offers strong corrosion protection, high thermal conductivity and efficient heat dissipation.
PVD «chameleon»
Vacuum Coating Chameleon (PVD)
Physical vapor deposition (PVD, magnetron sputtering). Four metal targets — copper, nickel, chromium, titanium — are sputtered by plasma at high temperature onto the part, creating an iridescent chameleon effect. The PVD film is perfectly uniform, with a metallic texture, high thermal conductivity and fast heat dissipation. The coating resists oxidation, is durable, provides excellent protection, faithfully reproduces the natural metal color and eliminates paint peeling and blistering.
Chameleon Bell (PVD-coated disc bell)

The PVD film is perfectly uniform, with a metallic texture, high thermal conductivity and fast heat dissipation. Cerakote (USA)
Cerakote Grass Green (US ceramic coating)
Ultra-thin high-coverage coating (0.025 mm) with a matte ceramic texture. A velvety matte-satin texture with a deep, rich color gives the caliper a premium look. Resistant to chemicals, stable at high temperatures, does not fade or peel. Commonly used in automotive engines and other high-load components. Passed abrasion (ASTM D4060) and salt-spray (ASTM B117) tests.
Cerakote Lemon Yellow (US ceramic coating)
Ultra-thin high-coverage coating (0.025 mm) with a matte ceramic texture. A velvety matte-satin texture with a deep, rich color gives the caliper a premium look. Resistant to chemicals, stable at high temperatures, does not fade or peel. Commonly used in automotive engines and other high-load components. Passed abrasion (ASTM D4060) and salt-spray (ASTM B117) tests.
Cerakote Prisoner Pink (US ceramic coating)
Ultra-thin high-coverage coating (0.025 mm) with a matte ceramic texture. A velvety matte-satin texture with a deep, rich color gives the caliper a premium look. Resistant to chemicals, stable at high temperatures, does not fade or peel. Commonly used in automotive engines and other high-load components. Passed abrasion (ASTM D4060) and salt-spray (ASTM B117) tests.
Cerakote Tiffany Blue (US ceramic coating)

Passed abrasion (ASTM D4060) and salt-spray (ASTM B117) tests.
Technologies
Anodizing + Vacuum Coating
A 5–10 micron dense oxide film increases wear and corrosion resistance; hardness is several times higher than the base metal. A vacuum-coating layer on top protects from sun fading and aggressive fluids — no dulling, withstands high-pressure washing.
Nickel Plating
Galvanic 0.01 mm nickel layer. High corrosion resistance, mirror gloss, metallic texture, durable, non-peeling, excellent thermal conductivity and heat dissipation.
PVD Vacuum Coating "Chameleon"
Cu/Ni/Cr/Ti targets sputtered by plasma at high temperature create an iridescent chameleon effect. Uniform film, metallic gloss, high thermal conductivity, oxidation resistant, non-peeling.
Cerakote (US) — ceramic coating
Ultra-thin 0.025 mm coating, matte ceramic texture: matte-satin finish with a deep, rich color. Stable at high temperatures, no fading, no peeling. Passed ASTM D4060 abrasion and ASTM B117 salt-spray tests.
⚠️ TAVRUS does not use paint: ~0.7 mm layer, plastic look, poor heat transfer, fading/cracking at high temperatures, ages rubber seals, sensitive to brake fluid. Race-grade calipers are never painted.
